WALTERBORO " Mr. Briley Morgan Polk, 76, of 3114 Charleston Highway, died Wednesday, May 6, 2009, at his residence.



Funeral services will be held 11 am Saturday, May 9, 2009, at Welch Creek Baptist Church. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.



Mr. Polk was born May 11, 1932 in Walterboro and was a son of the late Jerome E. Polk and Lottie Colson Polk. He worked at J.P. Stevens for many years and retired from CCX after 30 years service. Mr. Polk served his country in the United States Army and also served seven years in the Army National Guard. His favorite pastimes were farming and taking care of his hummingbirds. He will be remembered for his gentleness, honesty, generosity and sense of humor; but most of all as someone who always thought of others instead of himself. He was a loving husband and father and good provider for his family.



Surviving are: his wife, Evelina Littlefield Polk; daughter, Belinda L. Brown and her husband Richard of Walterboro; grandchildren, Richard Brown, Antonio Brown and Morgan Brown; and brother, Frank Polk of Lead Hill, Arkansas. He was preceded in death by a brother, Daniel Polk.
