Branden Barwick

Branden William Barwick, 31, of 768 Kinard Road, Islandton, entered into rest Tuesday morning, July 9, 2013, at his residence.

Funeral services will be conducted 12 noon Friday, July 12, 2013, from Adnah United Methodist Church, Adnah Church Road, Islandton. The Reverend Frederick Davis officiating. Interment will follow in the churchyard.

The family will receive friends prior to the funeral ceremony Friday morning beginning at 10 o’clock in the sanctuary of Adnah United Methodist Church.

Born September 6, 1981, a native of Charleston having been born at Saint Francis Xavier Hospital he was the only child of Carroll Eugene “Boogie” Barwick, Jr. and Myra Breland Barwick. He was a graduate of Walterboro High School, Class of 1999 where he lettered in sports having played Baseball and then football with the Walterboro Bulldogs being on the team when they won their only state championship during his Junior year in 1997. Branden will be fondly remembered for his love of sports, whether it was sports he played as a child or throughout his school years, or even as he coached Baseball for the Colleton County Parks and Recreation Department for many of their teams to include the team “Outcast” or even more currently as he played with numerous slow pitch softball teams; next to his children, sports was his life. He was a heavy equipment operator for Deep Creek Construction Company. He was a member of Bethel United Methodist Church in the Historic District of Walterboro and had also attended with his family at Adnah United Methodist Church in Islandton. He was a master mason, holding his membership at Smoaks Masonic Lodge, No. 231 – Ancient Free Masons. Branden had also developed a passion for playing golf, and was to play in an upcoming benefit tournament.

Surviving in addition to his parents, Boogie and Myra of Islandton are: his three children, the loves of his life, Austin Taylor Barwick, Ashlyn Michelle Barwick, and Jasper Noah Barwick; his paternal grandfather, Mr. Carroll Eugene Barwick, Sr. of Walterboro; and his maternal grandmother, Mrs. Joyce Kinard Breland of Walterboro. There are two special friends, Lesa Murphy Barwick and Amy Covington both of Walterboro as well as a host of aunts, uncles, cousins and other family members. He was preceded in death by a paternal grandmother, Mrs. Bessie Mae Strawn Barwick and a maternal grandfather, Mr. John W. “Billy” Breland.

Flowers will be accepted, or for those that so wish, the family has suggested that memorial contributions be directed in his memory to the following: Adnah United Methodist Church, care of Jackie Smoak, 124 Hiers Corner Road, Walterboro, South Carolina 29488; or to, Bethel United Methodist Church, 355 Hampton Street, Walterboro, South Carolina 29488.
