Mr. Boyce W. Bishop, Jr., affectionately known to everyone as Junior, 88, of Ehrhardt, passed away Wednesday, March 23, 2011 at Palmetto Heath Hospital-Richland. He was the husband of the late Llewellyn Copeland Bishop.
Funeral services will be held 2 oclock, Sunday, March 27, 2011 at Ehrhardt Baptist Church. Interment will follow in Ehrhardt Cemetery.
Mr. Junior was born March 1, 1923 in Ehrhardt and was a son of the late Boyce W. Bishop, Sr. and Lougenia Shaw Bishop. He was a barber for more than 57 years, having had a barbershop in Charleston and Bishops Brothers Barber Shop in Ehrhardt. He served his country in the United States Army from 1946 1948 and was a faithful member of Ehrhardt Baptist Church. Mr. Junior had an avid love for fishing and working in his garden.
Surviving are: his son, Boyce Alwyn Bishop of Hartsville; sister, Deloris Sister Smith of Barnwell; brothers, Malvin O. Bishop of Padgetts and Laverne D. Bishop of Bamberg; and many nieces and nephews, including a special nephew and caretaker, Laurie Copeland of Ehrhardt. He was preceded in death by brothers, Swain, Ottoway, Thurston, Charles, and Edison Bishop.
