Bonnie Shearer

Mrs. “Bonnie” Carolyn Yvonne Drawdy Shearer, who loved to be called “Momma” by her kids and “Gingaw” by her grandkids departed her loving family on 11-23-2022, with them by her side in the care of hospice.

Bonnie was born in Bowman, SC and was 85 years old, the Flossie and A. Fulton Drawdy. She attended college in Anderson, SC and while there, she met and married Jerome H. Shearer (deceased). They were happily married for 50 years. Bonnie was a mother to Susan S. Hilton and Tammye R. Cook (Robert) and a “Gingaw “to Robert (Bobby) W Cook II and Ashley R. Mixson (Seth). And also Gingaw to her greatgrandchildren, Willow, Audrey, Cutler, Johnny, Christian and baby Callie on the way. She is also survived by a sister, Sandra D. Courie and a brother, Phil Drawdy. In addition, she is predeceased by two sons, Douglas J. Shearer and Mark Shearer.

As a secretary and a minister’s wife, which she enjoyed so much, she was known for her love of family, doing mission work, traveling, singing and playing cards. She was always willing to help you when needed. She was a great mother and friend to everyone. Her hobbies were singing, painting and doing crafts.

Services will be held Monday afternoon, November 28, 2022 at 1 o’clock in North Walterboro Baptist Church, 2177 Jefferies Highway, Walterboro. The family will receive friends prior to the funeral beginning at 12 noon in the church.  Interment will follow in Doctors Creek Baptist Churchyard, 126 Doctor’s Creek Road, Walterboro.

Pallbearers will be Bobby Cook, Robert Cook, Seth Mixson, Treb Courie, Benjamin Heape, Cody Heape, James Pope, Lewis Wade, and Phil Drawdy (Honorary).

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Cancer Foundation as well as the Alzheimer’s Foundation.
