Mrs. Bonnie Shipman Gates, 53, of Possum Corner Road, Walterboro, entered into her state of eternal rest Thursday morning, January 20, 2011, at her residence.
The family will receive friends Sunday afternoon from 2 oclock until 4 oclock in The Crosby Stateroom of the funeral home.
Mrs. Gates was born September 24, 1957, in Charleston, and was a daughter of James William Shipman and Madalyn Strickland Shipman. She was a graduate of the Roper School of Nursing with her degree in Nursing and was a Licensed Practical Nurse 2 with the state of South Carolina. For fifteen years, she was a licensed practical nurse with Baker Hospital as well as Roper Hospital both in Charleston and was currently employed with Colleton Medical Center in Walterboro. During her career, she was awarded with several achievements and awards, but her proudest achievement was being awarded Licensed Practical Nurse of the Year for her devotion and dedication to her career and the wellbeing of others in her care.
Surviving in addition to her parents of North Charleston are: her husband of thirty-three years, Mr. Jack Dunham Gates; two daughters, Amanda Tressie Gates and Hollis Michelle Fuse and her husband Christian all of Walterboro; a brother, Mark William Shipman of Hanahan; and her beloved Dachshund, Hershey.
