Mrs. Bobbie Walker Jarrell, 66, of Estill, entered into eternal rest Saturday, March 01, 2014 at her residence.

Funeral services will be held 11 am, Tuesday, March 4, 2014 at Nixville Baptist Church. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

Bobbie Delores Walker Jarrell was born in Colleton County on October 25, 1947. Bobbie was married to David Richard Jarrell for 48 and a half years.

Now if you knew Bobbie you knew she liked to tell a lot of stories about her two-legged and four-legged family..... but Bobbie loved to tell the story of how she and David met on a blind date at the 1963 Sweetheart Banquet at Nixville Baptist Church. They married, made their home and raised their family here in Hampton County. Bobbie and David had three children.... Cindy, Michelle and Chris.

Bobbie is survived by her beloved husband, David; her children, Cindy and husband Tommy, Michelle and her friend Cecil, and Chris and wife Mary. Bobbie is also survived by her many Grandchildren and Great-grandchildren whom she loved dearly and took tremendous joy in. Grandchildren: Amber, Kayla, Misty, Dusty, Brooke, Haiston, Andrew, Tyler, Emily, Jea, and Addison. Great-Grandchildren: Devin, Brantley, Isabelle, and Wayne. Bobbie is also survived by her brother, Rodger Andy Walker; and a host of nieces and nephews. Bobbie was preceded in death by her parents, Andrew “Big Andy” and Betty Benton Walker; her father-in-law, Bennie Jarrell; and sister-in-law, Maybell Jarrell Smith.

Bobbie lived an active life and touched a lot of lives. Bobbie was active in her family life; she was active in her community and she was especially active in her church.

“Ms. Bobbie", as she was affectionately called by young and old, worked for years in the elementary school system as an assistant, where she touched the lives of many children with her heartfelt smiles and gentle hugs and literal pats-on-the-back. Family and friends know Bobbie often spoke of her school days and "her kids" with great affection.

Bobbie was a very active member of Nixville Baptist Church. She loved the time she spent there and the people of her church whom she spent that time with. Bobbie was more recently an active participant of WMU, the Church Choir and Senior Adults. However, during her many years at Nixville Baptist "Ms. Bobbie" helped with the children's choir, served as a GA Leader, an Acteen Leader, a Sunday School Teacher, a Children's Church Leader and a Youth Leader. She was also involved with the Children's Christmas Play and helped with the Sweetheart Banquets for the children and the adults. Ms. Bobbie served on the Bereavement and Hospitality Committee, the Kitchen Committee, acted as the Church Clerk and served as Sunday School Secretary for over twenty years. As you can see, Bobbie was committed to her church just as she was committed to her faith and her family.

Oh, and Bobbie was committed to her animals. That dear lady loved her four legged family members like she loved her two legged family members. She took great delight in telling countless stories about their various antics. Those furry friends loved Bobbie too. Bobbie loved that her four-legged family stayed with her as her constant companions. She never had to worry about feeling lonely. They gave her much comfort in the last few years and especially in the last few months with their gentle nudges for attention or just by curling up beside her... or ON her... on the bed.
Bobbie faced some challenges in the last few years with her health. She was often bound to a wheelchair or a bed. But though Bobbie was bound physically, she was not bound spiritually. She remained positive, thankful for her family who rallied around her and steadfast in her faith.

If you knew Bobbie, you know she liked being prepared for things. Whether it was a Sunday school lesson, a road trip, or one of her much loved camping trips. So, I am sure it is no surprise to you folks that she was prepared for this day as well. Bobbie was prepared for her death by her relationship with her Lord and Savior, it goes without saying. She was also prepared for this service ....by leaving her family handwritten instructions for this day!

Some of her favorite scriptures included The Lord's Prayer, John 3:16, "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that who whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life” and Philippians 4:13, "I can do all things through my God who strengthens me. " We celebrate Bobbie's life ... that she lived well, with faith and love and we will celebrate Bobbie's death.... that she left this world gently, secure in the knowledge that she was loved on earth and in Heaven.
