Bobbie Hatfield

Mrs. Bobbie Jean Hatfield, 91, of Walterboro, passed away Wednesday evening, June 19, 2024, at The Wildcats in Summerville.  She was the wife of the late Charles S. Hatfield, Jr.

Born March 28, 1933, in Leeds, Alabama, she was the daughter of the late Melvin T. Wood and Lois Mims Wood. She was an employee of the South Carolina State Parks System for many years.  After moving to Walterboro, she began working for the Colleton County School District in food service, where she retired.  She was a member of Edgewood Baptist Church.  She loved the outdoors and loved life.  She enjoyed camping and was a member of the Masonic Camping Club-NCT.  She also loved collecting Native American artifacts, especially arrowheads and pottery.

Surviving are: her children, Barbara Dale Bynum and her husband Bill of Brevard, North Carolina, and Judie Salisbury and her husband Kevin of Walterboro; 10 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; and 3 great great grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her son, Charles Samuel “Butch” Hatfield, III; brothers, Floyd Wood and James Wood; and a sister, Verona Martin.
