Blue Bolton

January 4, 1951 — October 9, 2015

Major James Edward Bolton, known to everyone as “Blue”, 64, of Hampton, passed away Friday, October 9, 2015 at his residence.

Funeral services will be held 11 am, Tuesday, October 13, 2015 at Open Arms Fellowship, Hampton, South Carolina.  Interment will follow in Sandy Run Cemetery.

Born January 4, 1951 in Louisville, Kentucky, he was a son of the late Marion and Frances Bolton.  He served his country faithfully in the United States Marine Corps and was a Combat Veteran of the Vietnam War.  He then joined the Hampton Police Department where he has served for the last 26 years, moving up the ranks to the rank of Major and serving as Assistant Police Chief for the last 15 years.

Blue loved riding his motorcycle, playing golf, enjoyed all sports, and most of all serving the Hampton Community.  Anyone who had the pleasure of knowing Blue knew he loved his job, serving his town and his country.  Most of all, he loved his wife and family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Surviving are: his wife, Leila Malphrus Bolton of Hampton; daughters, Charlotte Williams and her fiancé James Bridges of Hampton and Chrissy Millsap and her husband Zach of Hampton; stepchildren, Wanda Simmons McDaniel of Jacksonville, Florida, Jeremy Michael Simmons and his wife Amanda of Seabrook, Kala Harrell Croft of Varnville, and Anthony Keith Harrell of Columbia; brothers, Steven Bolton of Louisville, Kentucky and Jon Bolton of Louisville, Kentucky; sisters, Frances Fuhrman of Syracuse, New York, Alice Woosley of Louisville, Kentucky, Barbara Seeders of Louisville, Kentucky, and Beth Dominguez of New Mexico; 16 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; and all of his family at the Hampton Police Department.  He was preceded in death by his son, Marion Carl “Mac” Bolton; and a sister, Phyllis Glinkowski.
