Mr. Bissell Lee Ramsey, 99, of Cayce Road in Lodge, entered into his state of eternal rest Monday evening, April 5, 2010, at the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston following a brief illness. He was married to the late Mrs. Juanita McMillian Ramsey, who passed away in August of 1999.



Funeral services will be conducted 2 oclock Thursday afternoon, April 8, 2010, from The Brice W. Herndon and Sons Funeral Chapel, Walterboro. Interment with Masonic Rites, conferred by Hope Masonic Lodge, will follow in Carters Ford Baptist Church Cemetery, 8774 Lodge Highway, Lodge.



Mr. Ramsey was born May 14, 1910, in Colleton County and was a son of the late Jim Ramsey and the late Essie Kinard Ramsey. He was a retired employee with many years of service to Santee Cooper and was a lifelong Colleton County farmer, always faithful to planting, cultivating and personally harvesting his crops. He was the oldest living member of Carters Ford Baptist Church where he remained active in the church as well as the Sunday School until his death. He was a fifty year member and Past Master of Hope Masonic Lodge No. 122, Ancient Free Masons in Lodge.



Surviving are: his son, Bissell Marvin Pete Ramsey and his wife Judy of Walterboro; and a sister, Erma Caldwell of Beaufort; There are three grandchildren, Rena R. Craven and her husband Silas, Angie P. Ramsey, and Patricia R. Gahagan and her husband Jami; two great grandchildren, Alex Craven and Sydney Craven; as well as a special friend and companion, Mrs. Rudell Morales of Walterboro. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Kline Ramsey, Madison Ramsey, Bob Ramsey, and David Ramsey.



Flowers will be accepted, or for those that wish, the family has respectfully requested that memorial contributions be directed in his memory to: Carters Ford Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, 8774 Lodge Highway, Lodge, South Carolina 29082.
