Mr. Billy Russell, 66, of Charleston, entered into his state of eternal rest Monday evening, November 29, 2010, at Doctors Burn Center in Augusta, Georgia.
Funeral services will be conducted 1 oclock Saturday afternoon, December 4, 2010, from The Brice W. Herndon and Sons Funeral Chapel, Walterboro. Interment will follow in Ackerman Cemetery at Red Oak, Red Oak Road, Cottageville.
Mr. Russell was born March 1, 1944, in Bamberg and was the youngest of fifteen children born to the late Marvin and Marie Crummie Russell. He was of the Southern Baptist faith, had served his country faithfully in the Army National Guard during the Vietnam Era, and was a retired sheet rock worker. He will be remembered for his love of working on small engines and tending to his garden.
Surviving are: two sons, William Kenneth Russell and Kevin Matthew Russell both of Johns Island; five sisters, Norma Jean Bell and Barbara Ann Bell both of Springfield, Doris Ayer, Susie Thomas, and Verna Mae Padgett all of Bamberg; and the mother of his children, Mrs. Sandra Halsey of Johns Island. There are two grandchildren, Brandon William Russell and Kanen Alexander Russell; as well as several nieces and nephews, to include a special nephew, Larry.
