Billy Wayne Merritt, Jr.

Mr. Billy Wayne Merritt, Jr., 57, of Coosawhatchie, entered into eternal rest Tuesday, March 4, 2025, at his residence.

Born April 28, 1968, in Hampton County, he was a son of the late Billy Wane Merritt, Sr. and Irene Smoak Merritt.  Wayne loved fishing, camping, and riding motorcycles.  Most of all, he dearly loved his family and dedicated his life to taking care of them.

Surviving are: his brother, Hunter Merritt of Rincon, Georgia; as well as many aunts, uncles, and cousins, including a special cousin that he shared a very close bond with, Tabitha Lee Mobley.

Funeral services will be held 3 o’clock, Thursday afternoon, March 20, 2025, at The Brice Herndon Funeral Home, Varnville-Hampton Chapel.  Interment will follow in Cook-Hull-Schaffer Cemetery, Old Salkehatchie Road, Early Branch.
