Biography
Mr. Billy D. Lyons, affectionately known to all as "Pappy", 72, of Varnville, entered into eternal rest Wednesday, August 27, 2014 at his residence.
Graveside funeral services will be held at 12 noon, Saturday, August 30, 3014 at Hagan Cemetery in Smoaks.
Mr. Lyons was born January 30, 1942 in Bamberg County and was a son of the late George Dewey Lyons and Martha Linder Lyons. He was a retired logger, who never met a stranger and loved fishing.
Surviving are: his wife, Kathryn P. Jarrell Lyons of Varnville; daughter, Jodie Riley of Ruffin; a step-son he raised as his own, Mike Norris of Bamberg; step-children, Steve Jarrell and his wife Kathy of Hampton, Robert Jarrell of Hampton, Richard Jarrell and his wife Sandra of Smoaks, and Dianne Saimes of Walterboro; brothers, Reverend James E. Lyons of Branchville, Steve Lyons of Branchville, and Buddy Lyons of Smoaks; sister, Elizabeth Bunton of Columbia; 10 grandchildren; and 2 great grandsons. He was preceded in death by a brother, Paul Lyons; and a sister, Myrtle Lyons.
