Mr. Billy Fredrick Floyd, 76, of Smoaks, died Monday, October 27, 2008, at his residence. He was the husband of the late Mrs. Jo Cole Floyd.



Funeral services will be conducted 3 oclock Sunday afternoon, November 2, 2008, from the graveside at Smoaks Baptist Church Cemetery, 482 Lodge Highway, Smoaks, with The Reverend Dan Stroman officiating.



Mr. Floyd was born June 9, 1932, in Richfield, North Carolina and was a son of the late Jesse Floyd and the late Annie Crumpton Floyd. He was a graduate of Pfeiffer University in North Carolina where he received his Batchelors of Business and served his country in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. He was a member of Smoaks Baptist Church where he was active with the Mens Sunday School Class. He and his wife lived in Maryville, Tennessee from 1960 until 1998, where he was a banker and after his retirement in 1998, they moved to the Smoaks community to be close to their daughter.



Surviving are: a daughter, Dawn Floyd Johns and her husband David of Smoaks; one brother, Ross Floyd of Joppa, Maryland; and a sister, Mary Floyd Butler of Charlotte, North Carolina. There are two grandchildren, Christopher Johns and Ericka Johns that also survive. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Frank and Ray Floyd as well as a sister, Betty Floyd Barger.



The family will receive friends prior to the funeral services beginning at 2 oclock at the church.
