Betty Reeves

Mrs. Betty Blanton Reeves, age 87, was absent from her body and present with the Lord Wednesday morning, February 10, 2021,  at her home in Cottageville while under the care of Amedysis Hospice.

She was born January 2, 1934, in Cottageville and was a daughter of the late William Morrison Blanton and the late Margie Canaday Blanton.  She was a graduate of Cottageville High School.  She was an inactive member of the French Huguenot Society of South Carolina in Charleston.   She was a member of Grace Advent Christian Church in Walterboro where she was a member of the Adult Sunday School Class.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her twins, Margie Raylene and George Keith; three sisters, Pearl B. Smoak, Margie E. Mau, and Martha B. Gooding. She was also preceded in death by her children’s father, her former husband, George “Buck” Reeves.

Surviving are: a son, Steven Louis Reeves of Cottageville; a daughter, Margie Reeves Robertson and husband Charles “Eddie” Robertson of Cottageville; and a brother, William “Stoney” Blanton of Cottageville.  There are six grandchildren, Angela Reeves, Heather Reeves Hartsoe and her husband Ricky, William C. Reeves and his wife Michelle, Kelsey J. Reeves, Lindsey Robertson Mixson and her husband Murray, Kimberly Scanlon and her husband Matthew; and five great grandchildren, Cali Mixon, Bryce Mixon, Bailey Hartson, McKenzie Hartsoe, and Clayton Hartsoe.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that memorial contributions be directed in her memory to the following:  Grace Advent Christian Church, Womens Home and Foreign Mission Society, 398 Mount Carmel Road, Walterboro, South Carolina 29488; or to, Maple Cane Baptist Church Building Fund, 21324 Augusta Highway, Cottageville, South Carolina 29435.

Funeral services will be conducted 2 o’clock Friday afternoon, February 12, 2021, from The Brice W. Herndon and Sons Funeral Chapel, Walterboro.  The Reverend Wayne Lucas and Mr. Douglas Cone officiating.  Interment will follow in Rudd Branch Cemetery, Lebanon Road in Berkeley County of Ridgeville.
