Betty Nettles

Mrs. Elizabeth “Betty” Jan Becker Nettles, 66, of Walterboro, entered into eternal rest Friday, January 1, 2021 at her residence.  She was the wife of the late Edwin L. “Dinky” Nettles.

Born April 29, 1954 in Sewickley, Pennsylvania, she was a daughter of the late John Edward Becker and Flora Mae Reynolds Becker.  She loved gardening and growing all types of plants and loved crabbing.  Mrs. Betty was always giving and generous and gave with pure, unconditional love.  Most of all, she loved her family and was the best mom to her five children.

Surviving are: her children, David Nettles of Walterboro, Kevin Nettles of Walterboro, and Flora Padgett and her husband James of Smoaks; her adopted daughter, Lashonda Linder of Walterboro; brother, John George Becker of Edisto Island; sister, Mary Catherine Engle of St. Louis, Missouri; grandchildren, Deborah Ann Benton, Randall Greg Hughes, Jr., Cheyenne Caroline Hughes, Sierra Hughes, Savannah Hughes, Christall Hughes, and Aelita Maria Padgett; great grandchildren, Jordan Benton, Joseph Benton, Jr., Charles Edwin Benton, and Alexander Benton; and many loving nieces, nephews, and cousins.  She was preceded in death by a daughter, Christina Nettles Hughes; and a son, Louie Nettles.

Funeral services will be conducted 2 o’clock Friday afternoon, January 8, 2021, from The Brice W. Herndon and Sons Funeral Chapel, Walterboro.  Father Jacob Joseph officiating.  The family will greet friends during a visitation following the funeral ceremony.   A private interment will be held in Glendale Memorial Cemetery in Walterboro.
