WALTERBORO " Mrs. Betty Simmons Hughes, 78, of 121 Houseworth Street in Walterboro, died Monday evening, August 25, 2008, at the Saint Frances Hospital in Charleston.
Funeral services will be conducted 11 oclock Thursday morning, August 28, 2008, from The Brice W. Herndon and Sons Funeral Chapel, Walterboro. Interment will follow in Glendale Memorial Cemetery, 2210 Mount Carmel Road, Walterboro.
Mrs. Hughes was born February 15, 1930, in Summerville, and was a daughter of the late Walter Isaac Simmons and the late Lydia Knight Simmons. She was a member of Bethel United Methodist Church in Walterboro.
Surviving her are: two sons, William Bruce Hughes and his wife Missy Ryoti Hughes of Walterboro and Brett Simmons Hughes and his wife Dr. Rebecca Morrison Hughes of Walterboro; and two sisters, Linda S. Guilford of Walterboro and Janice S. Williams of Orangeburg. There are two grandchildren: Caroline Elisabeth Hughes and Amanda Peach Hughes as well as several nieces and nephews that also survive.
