Mrs. Betty Craven Hodge, age 74, of 334 Castlebury Road, Walterboro, entered into her state of eternal rest Tuesday morning, April 13, 2010, at her residence under the care of Hospice Care of South Carolina following an extended illness.
Funeral services will be conducted 2 oclock Friday afternoon, April 16, 2010, from The Brice W. Herndon and Sons Funeral Chapel, Walterboro with The Reverend Dr. W. Steven Brown officiating. Interment will follow in Live Oak Memorial Gardens, 3093 Ashley River Road, Charleston.
Mrs. Hodge was born May 27, 1935, in Buffalo, New York and was a daughter of the late The Reverend Melvin Vincent Craven, Sr. and the late Peggy Sharp Craven. She was a devoted housewife and was a member of the First Baptist Church of Walterboro. She was a member and Past Worthy Matron of the Order of the Eastern Star and will be fondly remembered for her love of crafts, but more especially her favorite pastime, which was fishing.
Surviving are: her husband, Mr. Fred Hodge, Jr.; two sons, Michael Hodge and his wife Cheryl of Sumter and William Eric Hodge and his wife Sheri of Lynchburg, Virginia; and four daughters, Donna Hodge Platt and her husband Seabrook of Parkers Ferry, Peggy Hodge Brakefield of Vernon, Connecticut, Pamela Hodge Hulon and her husband Tommy of Saint George, and Danielle Mangum and her husband Matt who are stationed at Fort Knox, Kentucky. There are ten grandchildren and eight great grandchildren that also survive.
