Ms. Betty Jean Benton Loadholt Hiers, 90, of Ehrhardt, South Carolina entered into eternal rest Monday morning, March 20, 2023, at NHC Healthcare in North Augusta. Betty was a resident of The Hills of Cumberland Village in Aiken since 2017.
Born August 08, 1932, in Colleton County, she was a daughter of the late Sinia Bishop Benton and James Duffie Benton. She was first married to the late Louis Legaré Loadholt and secondly to the late Landis Wendell Hiers. Betty was a devoted member of Ehrhardt Baptist Church since joining in 1954. She was a member of the Baptism and Communion Committee and of the WMU. She was a community member of the Nora Stanley Garden Club, Lioness Club, and a leader of the American Red Cross Blood Mobile in Bamberg County. Betty was a graduate of Walterboro High School and Baptist Hospital School of Nursing in Columbia. She served as a nurse at Baptist Hospital, Bamberg Hospital, and the office of Dr. John F. McLaughlin. She retired from the Bamberg County Office on Aging.
Betty was a loving and devoted mother and “Gmama” who dearly loved her family, her church family and her friends. She greatly cherished time spent with her closest friends playing Canasta, gardening and caring for others. Betty thoroughly enjoyed visits from her church friends and family and special outings with her children and grandchildren as her health was declining. She will always be remembered for her generous and giving spirit.
Surviving are: her daughters, Lynn Loadholt Mubarak (Carl) of Lexington, Janet Loadholt Parker (Glenn) of Aiken, Gail Hiers O’Gorman of Columbia, Olivia Hiers Padgett of Edisto Island; her son, Landis Hiers (Tiny) of Ehrhardt; her grandchildren, Galen Parker (Alyson) of North Augusta, Bailey Parker (Matthew Klein) of Aiken, Jason Mubarak (Christy) of Lexington, Farrell O’Gorman (Natasha) of Belmont, North Carolina, John Hiers (Susan) of Bamberg, Kevin O’Gorman (Liz) of Edgefield, Rhonda Hiers of Bamberg, Maureen Petkewich (Matthew) of Columbia, Mike Padgett (Caroline) of Florence, Patrick Padgett (Heather Landry) of Dorchester and Chris Mubarak (Natalie) of Cummings, Georgia; her great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, cousins and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her siblings, JD Benton, Irving Benton, Lewis Benton, Harold Benton, Robert Benton, Ladson Benton, Rhumelle Crider, and Thelma McDaniel.
With sincere gratitude, the family would like to thank the staff at The Hills of Cumberland Village for their care and kindness making her days easier and happier.

Funeral services will be held at 2 o’clock, Friday afternoon, March 24, 2023, at Ehrhardt Baptist Church in Ehrhardt, South Carolina. Interment will follow in Ehrhardt Cemetery.
The family will receive friends during a time of visitation Friday afternoon, March 24, 2023, from 12:30 until 2 at Ehrhardt Baptist Church.
