Betty Hanna

Mrs. Mary Elizabeth Hardee Hanna, affectionately known to everyone as “Betty”, 85, of Walterboro, entered into eternal rest Saturday morning, February 1, 2025, at Aiken Medical Center.  She was the wife of the late Lonnie B. Hanna to whom she was married 49 years.

Born August 3, 1939, in Horry County, South Carolina, she was a daughter of the late Orbie Lee Hardee and Lorie Paul Stokes.  She retired from the Colleton County Board of Disabilities where she was a Residential Manager.  Before her health started to decline and she moved to Aiken to be with her children, she was an active member of North Walterboro Baptist Church.  At her church, she was a member of the Seekers Sunday School Class and was an avid church worker.  Mrs. Betty dearly loved her family and her Lord, always taking care of her family and sharing the love of God with anyone she met.

Surviving are: her sons, Gregory “Greg” Hanna and his wife Becky of Williston, Reverend Dr. Gary Hanna and his wife Debra of Williston and Reverend Stephen “Steve” Hanna and his wife Lisa of Aiken; grandchildren, Brandon Hanna and his wife Kimberly, Joshua Hanna and his wife Rebecca, Adrienne Lopez and her husband Michael, Samantha Hanna, Jennifer Hutto and her husband Chris, Katelyn Martin and her husband Nick, and Jared Fletcher and his wife Faith; great grandchildren, Riley, Reese, McKenzie, Lennox, Ellyson, Anders, Violet, Levi; and sister-in-law, Nancy Hardee; and several nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her brother, Don Hardee.

Funeral services will be held 11 o’clock, Friday morning, February 7, 2025, at North Walterboro Baptist Church, 2177 Jefferies Highway, Walterboro.  Interment will follow in Glendale Memorial Cemetery, 2210 Mount Carmel Road, Walterboro.
