Biography
Mrs. Betty Owensby Farris, 87, of Bessemer City, passed away on August 8, 2014, at her son's home in Walterboro. She was the wife of the late Mr. Christy C. Farris.
She was born on May 24, 1927, in Kings Mountain, to the late James Thomas and Dorothy Spencer Owensby.
"Granny" was a loving mother and grandmother who took great care of her family as well as anyone in need. She will be missed more than words can say.
She is survived by her children, Ronald Dean Farris of Bessemer City, Jeffrey Scott Farris and wife Myra of Walterboro, SC, and Vickie Farris Kuykendall of Bessemer City; grandchildren, Larisa Farris Hope and husband Charlie, Kasey Farris Miller and husband Tony, Kristie Kuykendall Morton, Taylor Farris; seven great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by three brothers, Leon, Ernest and Joe Owensby; and two sisters, Annie Belle Cook and Louise Grady.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday in Bessemer City, North Carolina with burial following in Bessemer City Memorial Cemetery.
