Betsy Maxey

August 4, 1941 — January 31, 2014


Ms. Rebecca Ray Maxey, known to everyone as “Betsy”, 72, of Maxey Street, Walterboro, entered into eternal rest Friday, January 31, 2014 at her residence.

Funeral services will be held 3 pm, Sunday, February 2, 2014 at Edgewood Baptist Church. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery.

Ms. Maxey was born August 4, 1941 in Walterboro and was a daughter of the late P.J. Maxey and Sarah Alice Bryan Maxey. She attended Colleton County schools. She was a charter member of Edgewood Baptist Church, a church she dearly loved and devoted her time to for as long as she was able. Betsy had a keen interest in current events, genealogy and politics. She was a kind-hearted person. She loved to travel, loved children and all types of animals.

Surviving are: her sister, Mary Martin of Walterboro; nephew, Tiger Martin and his wife Christy of Walterboro; great niece, Becca Martin; great nephew, Nicholas Martin; her beloved church family and many cousins.

Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to: Edgewood Baptist Church, 138 Wildwood Drive, Walterboro, South Carolina 29488; or to: Colleton County Animal Shelter, 33 Poor Farm Road, Walterboro, South Carolina 29488.
