Mrs. Betsy Nell Hiott Jones, age 66, of 140 Azalea Drive in Walterboro, entered into eternal rest at 1:14 in the early morning of June 30, 2011 as her son, "Bubba", and her daughter, Mandy, escorted her through the gates of Heaven.

Funeral services will be conducted at 4 o'clock Saturday afternoon, July 2, 2011, in The Brice W. Herndon and Sons Funeral Chapel, Walterboro, with The Reverend Ralph Warren and The Reverend D. Lewis Faulkenberry officiating. Interment will follow at Glendale Memorial Cemetery, 2210 Mount Carmel Road, Walterboro.

Mrs. Jones was born August 23, 1944, in Walterboro, South Carolina and was a daughter of the late James Fred Hiott, Jr. and the late Nellie Headden Hiott. She was a Registered Nurse having dedicated her career to Colleton Medical Center in Walterboro, where she retired after forty-six years of committed service. She displayed her never-ending faith in God, and was a member of Edgewood Baptist Church in Walterboro. She loved to paint, sew, and spend her free time in her yard on Azalea Drive. Her grandchildren were her pride and joy and she cherished them always, centering her life around them. She also spent her free time playing BINGO, shopping and spending days at the beach.

She was preceded in death by two of the greatest loves of her life: her son, William Dwight Jones, Jr. who was simply known to everyone as "Bubba", and then her daughter, Mandy Elizabeth Jones.

Surviving are two daughters: Vicky J. Lyons and her husband, Curtis, of Smoaks and Deanne J. Lewis of Sumter; Mr. William D. Jones of Walterboro, to whom she was married for forty-two years; a brother, Bobby Hiott of Walterboro; two sisters, Paula Stanfill of Round O and Frances Carter of Walterboro; and a son-in-law, Doc Lewis of Sumter. There are seven grandchildren, T.J. Grayson, Brittany Lyons Rook, Trey Lewis, Taylor Lyons, McKenzee Lewis, Payton Lewis, and Haven Lyons; as well as two great grandchildren, Keira and Tatum Grayson.

Flowers will be accepted, or for those that so desire, memorial contributions may be directed to the following: Edgewood Baptist Church, 138 Wildwood Drive, Walterboro, South Carolina 29488; or to Hospice Care of South Carolina, 134 Bells Highway, Walterboro, South Carolina 29488.
