Beth Thomas

Nancy Elizabeth Hiers Thomas entered Heaven at her home Tuesday June 6, 2023, with her family by her side.

Born August 14, 1958, to the late James Everette and Jacquelin McKenzie Hiers. She lived her first years in her parent’s 2-room log cabin on her father’s farm. Beth graduated from Andrew Jackson Academy and attended Columbia College where she earned a degree in Childhood Education. She taught children for over 35 years at Andrew Jackson Academy and retired at Brunson Elementary School. Her love of shopping led her to her husband Michael at his family’s furniture store. An avid fan of her Clemson Tigers, she was often seen wearing something with The Paw on it. She worshiped our God at St John’s Baptist Church in Ehrhardt and First Baptist Church of Hampton. She served as backup pianist or organist when called upon. She became Grammy to her grandchildren Eli and Everette whom she adored.

Surviving are: her husband, Michael Stephen Thomas of Hampton; son, James Michael Thomas and his wife Kristen of Hampton; grandchildren, Eli Thomas and Everette Thomas; sisters, Eve (Johnny) Ulmer of Ehrhardt and Robin (Mark) Golden of North Augusta; mother-in-law, Lillian Thomas of Hampton; sister-in-law, Susan (Tim) Reed of Greenville; as well as several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held 3 o’clock, Saturday afternoon, June 10, 2023, at The Brice Herndon Funeral Home, Varnville.  Interment will follow in Sandy Run Cemetery, Sandy Run Road, Hampton.
