Mrs. Bessie Louise Carroll Pellum, 79, of 386 Iron Rail Lane, Green Pond, entered into her state of eternal rest Friday morning, January 1, 2010, at the Carolina Medical Center in Lincolnton, North Carolina after many years of failing health. She was the widow of Mr. Cloyed Pellum.

Funeral services will be conducted 11 oclock Monday morning, January 4, 2010, from Green Pond Baptist Church, 12317 Green Pond Highway, Green Pond with The Reverend James W. Williams officiating. Interment will follow in the churchyard.

Mrs. Pellum was born August 17, 1930, in Charleston and was a daughter of Jessie Ernest Carroll and the late Susan Winn Carroll. She made Green Pond her home in the 1950s and worked faithfully as a homemaker providing the best she could for her family, as well as was instrumental in the daily duties of her familys farm. A true Christian at heart and a servant of God, she was a charter member of Green Pond Baptist Church where she faithfully resided as a member until her death. She was active in many aspects of the churchs work, having taught the Primary Sunday School Class for nearly fifty years and was also an assistant teacher with the Adult Sunday School Class. She believed that church was her obligation and participated in every duty she could. She loved her friends and the people of her community and was always willing to assist anyone that was in need and in many instances was a wonderful caretaker to those she provided for.
