Biography

Mrs. Bessie Lyons Myers, 86, of Dry Branch Road, Lodge, entered into rest Tuesday evening, June 17, 2014, at the Trident Medical Center in North Charleston. She was the widow of Mr. Rudolph Henry Myers.

Funeral services will be conducted 11 o'clock Friday morning, June 20, 2014, from The Brice W. Herndon and Sons Funeral Chapel, Walterboro. The Reverend J. E. Lyons officiating. Interment will follow in Carter's Ford Baptist Churchyard, 6507 Lodge Highway, Lodge.

Born May 29, 1928, a native and lifelong resident of Colleton County, she was a daughter of the late Gus Arnett Lyons and the late Ella Linder Lyons. She was a retired seamstress from Smoaks Manufacturing. A loving and Christian woman who was raised in the family church, Berea Advent Christian Church, she was a member of Carter's Ford Baptist Church. Bessie loved the outdoors, spending countless hours in her garden, fishing, and bird watching. She was a great southern cook who will be forever remembered for the love and dedication she possessed for her family, always centering in her life around them.

Surviving are: Mr. Alton "Junior" DuBois; three daughters, Lessie Myers Snead and her husband William of Walterboro, Brenda Myers Carter of Summerville, and Ellie Busse of Hampton; four brothers, Chester Lyons of Texas, Parker Lyons of Walterboro, Daniel D. Lyons of California, and Donald Lyons of Islandton; and two sisters, Lessie Mae Wooten of Varnville and Joyce Brabham of Branchville. There are seven grandchildren as well as great grandchildren that survive. She was preceded in death by a son, Rudy Myers; and a granddaughter, Michelle Marie Hiers.
