Mrs. Berniece Crosby Herndon, 92, of Walterboro, died Sunday, July 20, 2008 at St. Francis Hospital in Charleston, surrounded by her loving family. She was the widow of Mr. Grady Lee Herndon.
Funeral services will be held 11 oclock, Wednesday, July 23, 2008 at First Baptist Church in Walterboro. Interment will follow in Live Oak Cemetery.
Mrs. Herndon was born May 25, 1916 in Colleton County and was a daughter of the late Melvin and Amanda Crosby. She retired from Colleton County Hospital as a receptionist. Mrs. Herndon was a member of First Baptist Church, where she was a member of the Fedilas Sunday School Class. She was also a member of the Gladys Whiddon Garden Club. Mrs. Herndon was a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother who devoted her life to her family.
Surviving are: her children, Gale Hamm of Knoxville, Tennessee, William R. Herndon of Richmond Hill, Georgia and Thomas G. Herndon of Green Pond; sisters, Winnie Drawdy of Walterboro and Boots Martin of Beaufort; 5 grandchildren, Tommy Herndon, Ann Herndon, Billy Ray Herndon, Melissa McFerran and Brandon Hamm; and 12 great grandchildren.
