Bernard Purvis

Mr. Bernard Lyon Purvis, 93, of 3691 Sniders Highway, Walterboro, died Thursday evening December 4, 2008, at Beaufort Memorial Hospital. He was the husband of the late Mrs. Pauline Simmons Purvis.



Funeral services will be conducted 2 oclock Sunday afternoon, December 7, 2008, from The Brice W. Herndon and Sons Funeral Chapel, Walterboro with The Reverend Daniel Cooper officiating. Interment will follow in Beaufort Memorial Gardens, 1 Copeland Drive, Beaufort.



Mr. Purvis was born May 12, 1915, in Florence and was a son of the late Robert Troy Purvis and the late Maggie Odell Hatchell. He was a retired sawmill operator, contractor and restaurant owner. He was a member of the Walterboro Church of God and was a former member of Beaufort Church of God.



Surviving are: a daughter, Christine Phillips of Walterboro; and a son, Dr. Jordan J. Purvis of Seneca. There are three grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
