Bernard Augustus Hollenbeck

June 4, 1936 — March 10, 2014

Mr. Bernard Augustus Hollenbeck, affectionately known as "Tony", age 77, of Marble Lane in the Canadys community of Walterboro, went to his homecoming Monday afternoon, March 10, 2014.

A celebration of his life will be held 11 o'clock Saturday morning, March 15, 2014, from Bethlehem Baptist Church, 12898 Round O Road, Round O. The family will receive friends following the memorial ceremony in the fellowship hall of Bethlehem Church.

Born June 4, 1936, a native of Cortland, New York, he was a son of the late Bernard R. Hollenbeck and the late Marguerite Ellis Hollenbeck. He retired from the Robert Bosch Corporation in 1996. Tony resided in Charleston prior to making his beloved community of Canadys his home for the past fourteen years. Because of his desire to constantly stay busy, he became a well-known icon at the Canadys' Recycling Center. Tony was a devout Christian and devoting his life to the Lord and the sharing of His word was very important to him. He was very passionate about reading God's word and sharing his knowledge with others. He was an active member of Glory Bound Ministries where he participated in most every aspect of the church's activities. At Bethlehem Baptist he was active in the Brotherhood and youth group activities.

Surviving are: his wife, Mrs. Brenda Peeples Hollenbeck; three sons, Dale Hollenbeck and his wife Angela, Bret Hollenbeck and his wife Michelle, and Tracy Cooper and his wife Susan; five daughters, Donna Spencer and her husband Phil, Deborah Hollenbeck, Kimm Forsyth, Angie Davis and her husband Frankie, and Cindy Roberson and her husband Matthew; three brothers, Duane, Douglas, and Rick; and two sisters, Delores and Sally. There are nineteen grandchildren and twenty-one great grandchildren. Tony was preceded in death by his first wife, Mrs. Audrey L. Hollenbeck, a son, Tony V. Hollenbeck and great grandson, Kaleb T. Brown.

In lieu of flowers, the family has respectfully requested that memorial contributions be directed in his memory to either of the following churches as to benefit their youth groups: Glory Bound Ministries, 120 Glory Bound Place, Round O, South Carolina 29474; or to, Bethlehem Baptist Church, 12898 Round O Road, Round O, South Carolina 29474.
