Born July 28, 1938, a native of Norwalk, Connecticut, she was a daughter of Mrs. Susie Metzger Banks Honeycutt and the late Mr. Earl Banks. She was raised in Fort Pierce, Florida where most of her family still resides, until her and Danny made his home town of Walterboro their residence in 1968 just prior to his beginning with WALD Radio Station. Becky was raised to know hard work and a strong work ethic. For many years, she was an office manager for Roger Odum’s staff at Big O Chevrolet in Walterboro where she dedicated many years of service to the Odum family prior to her work in that same capacity at Besteel in Walterboro. Becky possessed the smile and sweet gentle sprit that not only made one feel loved, but also that motherly character in the most effortless of manners. Her way with comforting people, her dedication of always showing up and being present when needed and never ending willingness to help others allowed her to be a huge asset to the staff and family of The Brice W. Herndon and Sons Funeral Homes where she worked as an administration associate for many years being most visible in the evening hours during family visitation.

Becky was a member of the Walterboro Church of God, where her work and service again made her an icon figure. At her church, she served as the Assistant Church Clerk under Mr. O.G. Parrish and at his death became the Church Clerk and served in that position for the past twenty years. Becky has also been a volunteer at the Colleton Medical Center. She will be fondly remembered for her avid love of reading novels, especially love stories; her admiration for animals, and her never ending desire to go shopping. The memory of Becky DeWitt will always be cherished in the lives of those she touched.

Surviving in addition to her mother of Fort Pierce, Florida are: her husband – the light and love of her life for fifty-two years, Mr. Danny C. DeWitt; her son, David C. DeWitt of Fort Pierce, Florida; two brothers, Robert V. Green and Danny R. Green; and a sister, Martha Howard. She was preceded in death by an infant son, Danny C. DeWitt; her step-father, Paul Honeycutt; two brothers, Tommy H. Green and Leslie Green; and a sister, Minnie Pearl Banks. She was also survived by her beloved poodle, “Angel”.
