Mrs. Barbara Ellen Myers Bennett, 88 years old, of Walterboro, entered into her heavenly home on Tuesday evening, June 9, 2026, at her residence with her beloved family by her side.
Born May 20, 1938, in Terre Haute, Indiana. She was the loving wife of the late Roy Allen Bennett. She was the daughter of the late John William Myers and Mary Elizabeth Myers. She was known to most as “Bobbie” and affectionately known as “Mommy” to her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
In her earlier years she was employed by Sky City, (that operated in Walterboro for countless years) and Cato.
She was best at witnessing to others about God and praying for them. She was no ordinary Mother or Mommy, she was a spiritual Mother and leader in her family. At a young age she gave her life to God and became a witness for him. She had no ordinary relationship with God; she could hear him when he spoke. She shared her love for him not only in words, but she lived what she taught and she won many lives for Christ. She was a member of the Walterboro Church of God and was well known for her beautiful vocal cords in the choir. She taught 3 of her girls to sing at a young age and they became “The Bennett Trio”. She loved to sing. As someone said, “Heaven just got one to give the angels a run for their money in singing”. The most precious gift she gave us was a foundation in faith and the free gift of salvation. We will miss her praying for us all, but we know her prayers will live on.
She is survived by her seven children: a daughter, Robin Bennett of Walterboro, a daughter, Sonja Noskowiak (Chris) of East Tennessee, a daughter, Chrissy Cook (Donnie) of Cummings, South Carolina, a son, Richard Allen Bennett Sr. of Walterboro, a son, Roy Shayne Bennett (Leslie) of Walterboro, a daughter, Tonda Bennett of Walterboro; a great-grandson, Chesley, of Walterboro (whom she raised); twelve grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
She was pre-deceased by her mother, Mary Elizabeth Myers; her father, John William Myers; her brother, Ronald Andrew Myers; and a sister, Deanna Kay Hersberger (Jim).
Special thank you to her wonderful nurses, Rebecca Herndon and Caroline Cook, from Agape Hospice. Mom loved you!
Special Recognition to her daughter-in-law, Leslie Bennett, who was her full-time care giver and like a daughter to her. We love and appreciate all you did for her.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 o’clock, Sunday afternoon, June 14, 2026, with a viewing at 1pm, at the Brice W. Herndon and Sons Funeral Chapel, Walterboro. Interment will follow in Weslegacy Cemetery on the family property off the Green Pond Highway.
The family will receive friends for a time of visitation from 6 o’clock until 8 o’clock, Saturday evening at THE BRICE W. HERNDON AND SONS FUNERAL HOMES AND CREMATORY, WALTERBORO CHAPEL, 1193 Bells Highway, Walterboro, 843.538.5408. Visit the registry online at: www.briceherndon.com.
