Barbara Ann Connelly Chamblin

Mrs. Barbara Ann Connelly Chamblin, 79, of Lodge, entered into rest Saturday morning, July 1, 2023, at Trident Medical Center in North Charleston.  She was the wife of the late Mr. Jerry Edward Chamblin.

Born September 14, 1943, in Charleston County, South Carolina, she was a daughter of the late George W. Connelly and the late Lucille Altman Connelly.   She worked a long and dedicated career in the cafeteria of Bells Elementary School having retired in 2006 and was a longtime member of Ashton Baptist Church near Lodge.

Surviving are: two sons, James Chamblin (Annette) of Lodge and Chris Chamblin (MaryWynn) of Ruffin; a sister, Diane Godley (Bo) of Islandton; six grandchildren, Brian Chamblin, Kimberly Chamblin (Jess), Gini Girardeau Lucas, Alyssa Girardeau, Margaret Girardeau, and John Girardeau (Ansley); and five great grandchildren as well as a number nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her brother, Robert Connelly.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed in her memory to the following: Ashton Baptist Church, 5156 Willow Swamp Road, Lodge, South Carolina 29082; or to Friends of Colleton County Animal Shelter, 33 Poor Farm Road, Walterboro, South Carolina 29488.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11 o’clock Wednesday morning, July 5, 2023, from the graveside at Cross Swamp Cemetery, 107 Lively Stone Road, Islandton with The Reverend Chase McCrae officiating.
