Audrey Iona Sheppard Herndon

Mrs. Audrey Sheppard Herndon, 67, of Ruffin, went to be with the Lord in Heaven Sunday afternoon, August 9, 2020, at the Colleton Medical Center in Walterboro.

Born January 17, 1953, in Savannah, Georgia, she was a daughter of the late Joseph "Frank" Francis Sheppard and the late Winnie Ethel Exley Sheppard. Mrs. Audrey Herndon graduated from H. V. Jenkins High School, Savannah, GA, class of 1972. She attended Tabor United Methodist Church.  She loved the Lord and her church and enjoyed gospel music.  She centered her life around her family, devoting her life to them and making her house a home.  She was a loving wife and will always be remembered for the love she possessed for her great nephew, Josh and her cousin, Karen.  She also possessed an avid love for animals, especially cats and jewelry.

Surviving are: her husband, Mr. Larry Parks Herndon; a brother, Joseph "Joe" Wesley Sheppard, Sr. and his wife Ann of Cohutta, Georgia; a sister, Janice Moody and her husband Danny of Rincon, Georgia; she also survived by nephews, nieces and several cousins, to include a great nephew, Joshua Jones of Ruffin; and a special friend and cousin, Karen D. Parrott of Walterboro.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that memorial contributions be directed in her memory to: Tabor United Methodist Church, care of Gary Herndon, 8743 Bells Highway, Ruffin, South Carolina 29475.

Funeral services will be conducted 11 o’clock Wednesday morning, August 12, 2020, from the graveside at Tabor United Methodist Churchyard, 7186 Bells Highway, Ruffin.  The Reverend Cheri Griffin Yates officiating.

The family will receive friends prior to the funeral ceremony Wednesday morning beginning at 10 o’clock at the funeral home prior to travel to the cemetery for the funeral ceremony.
