Audrey Lemacks

Mrs. Audrey DeWitt Lemacks, 75, of Edgar Lane, Ruffin, entered into rest Saturday morning, April 20, 2013, at the Colleton Medical Center in Walterboro. She was the wife of the late Mr. James Edgar Lemacks, Sr.

Funeral services will be conducted 3 o’clock Monday afternoon, April 22, 2013, from The Brice W. Herndon and Sons Funeral Chapel, Walterboro. The Reverend John Harbin and The Reverend O’Neal Vaughn officiating. Interment will follow in Smoak Family Cemetery, Smoak Cemetery Lane, Ruffin.

Born February 19, 1938, a native of Colleton County, she was a daughter of the late Benjamin Carl DeWitt and the late Mada Evelyn Savage DeWitt. During her working years, she was employed by J. P. Stevens and Asten Hill in Walterboro and at retirement was employed by Snider’s Shop and Stop where she became a well known icon. She attended Edisto Pentecostal Holiness Church and will be fondly remembered for her love of family and flowers.

Surviving are: three daughters, Ellen Lemacks Garris of Walterboro, Shirley Lemacks Robertson of Walterboro, and Sheryl Jane Libby and her husband Mike of Round O; and a brother, Danny DeWitt and his wife Becky of Walterboro. There are eleven grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren that also survive as well as a caregiver and devoted friend, Beth Robertson Kinard of Walterboro. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Mada Dianne Lemacks Hartley and a son, James Edgar Lemacks, Jr.
