Biography
Mr. Antonio C. Cruz, 80, of Hampton, entered into eternal rest Saturday, October 6, 2012 at Uni-Health Post Acute Care of the Lowcountry.
Funeral services will be held 11 am, Wednesday, October 10, 2012, at Beaufort National Cemetery.
Mr. Cruz was born December 11, 1931 in Utuado, Puerto Rico and was one of several children born to Herminio and Providencia Cruz. He was raised in Puerto Rico before serving in the United States Army during the Korean War. After an honorable discharge, he made the United States his home, never returning to Puerto Rico. After a short time in Cleveland, Ohio, he moved to Lakewood, New Jersey where he met and married Nita Wade. He resided in Brick, New Jersey for over 40 years, where he made his career as a machinist at Marine Safety Corp, Pt. Pleasant, New Jersey. He moved to the Hampton and Allendale area in 2007 to be closer to his beloved children. In his lifetime, he enjoyed world history, cabinet making, wood carving, reading, and had a lifetime interest of current events.
Surviving are: his children, Robert "Bob" Cruz of Kissimmee, Florida and Antonio "Tony" Cruz, Jr. of Allendale, Provy (Richard) Poston of Varnville and Nita (Tim) Adams of Allendale; 13 grandchildren; and 21 great grandchildren.
