Anne Francis Morrissey

Mrs. Anne Francis Carroll Morrissey, 93, of Carolina Circle, Walterboro, entered into rest Monday morning, December 23, 2013, at the Colleton Medical Center in Walterboro. She was the wife of the late Mr. William Morrissey who died in 1987.

The Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted 2 o’clock Friday afternoon, December 27, 2013, from Saint Anthony Roman Catholic Church, 925 Jefferies Highway, Walterboro. The Reverend Jeffery Kendall, Celebrant. The Final Commendation and Farewell will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, Hendersonville Highway, Walterboro.

Family and friends are invited to call Thursday evening from 6 o’clock until 8 o’clock at Saint Anthony Roman Catholic Church where the Holy Rosary will be recited at 6 o’clock.

Born September 15, 1920, the last surviving of eleven children of the late Patrick Carroll and the late Katherine Whelan Carroll, she was a native of Harbour Grace, Newfoundland, Canada having made the lowcountry of South Carolina her home in 1967. She was a faithful member of Saint Anthony Roman Catholic Church in Walterboro where she was a member of the Women’s Club and Helping Hands as well as having been active in many aspects of the church’s work. She was also a member of the Pep Club. Anne will always be remembered as a devout and faithful lady who believed in the power of prayer, always shinning with a smile and sharing her over abundant love with all those she knew.

Surviving are: two daughters, Joan Morrissey Garvin and her husband J. W. of Lodge and Anne Marie Helbach and her husband Peter of Saint Catherines Ontario, Canada; and a son, William Patrick Morrissey of Fort Bragg, California. There are eight grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren; and fourteen great great grandchildren that also survive as well as numerous nieces and nephews throughout the United States and Canada that also survive. She was preceded in death by five grandchildren.
