Ann Murdaugh Cook

Mrs. Ann Murdaugh Cook, 68, of Ruffin, entered into rest Sunday evening, January 17, 2016, at the St. Francis Medical Center in Charleston.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 o’clock Wednesday morning, January 20, 2016, from The Brice W. Herndon and Sons Funeral Chapel, Walterboro. The Reverend Tom Polk Officiating. Interment will follow in Doctors Creek Baptist Church Cemetery, 126 Doctors Creek Road, Walterboro.
Born December 29, 1947, a native and lifelong resident of Colleton County, she was the daughter of the late William Olin Murdaugh and the late Reba Herndon Murdaugh. Ann was a retired administrative assistant from Coastal Electric Cooperative in Walterboro. She was a member of Doctor’s Creek Baptist Church where she raised her children and during her lifetime had been active in many aspects of the church’s work. She was a member of the Delta Eta Chapter of the Beta Sigma Phi Sorority. Ann will always be remembered for her loving smile and caring nature. She was an excellent southern cook and her ultimate love in life was her children, grandchildren, and family. In earlier years, she enjoyed going to the beach, reading, and crocheting.
Surviving are: three sons, Jimmy Cook and his wife Dawn of Lexington, Andy Cook and his wife Jeanette of Greensboro, North Carolina, and Michael Cook and his wife Lesley of Walterboro; and eight grandchildren, Grant, Caroline, Claire, Olivia, Emily, Sarah, Harrison, and Andrew. She is also survived by two sisters-in-law, Alma Murdaugh and Lucille Murdaugh as well as a host of nieces and nephews whom she dearly loved. She was preceded in death by her husband of thirty-three years, Mr. James H. Cook; and her two brothers, Bobby Murdaugh and Donald Murdaugh.
