Amy Marsh Gaydon

Mrs. Amy Marsh Gaydon, age 64, entered into rest Thursday morning, January 28, 2021, at her home in Walterboro surrounded by her loving family and under the care of Amedisys Hospice.

Born September 9, 1956, in Miami, Florida, she was a daughter of the late Oren and Virginia Marsh.  Amy graduated from Florida State University with her Master’s Degree in Special Education.  She made Walterboro her home in 1981, where she taught for twenty-eight years with the Colleton County School District.  The students she taught were like her own kids to her.  To say that you knew Amy is to say your knew joy and laughter.  Through her many years as a teacher, she was also known as a prankster, there was never a dull moment with her around.  Amy enjoyed the simple things in life spending time with her family brought her the greatest joy.  Amy firmly believed in God and was a member of Hendersonville Baptist Church.

Surviving are: her two children, James “Gus” Gaydon and his wife Tabitha of Smoaks and Ginny Gaydon of Hendersonville; a daughter-in-law; Crystal Gaydon; two brothers, Timothy Marsh and his wife Ann of Clover and John Marsh and his wife Elizabeth of Lusby, Maryland; and three grandchildren; Shawn, Summer, and James; She is also survived by her mother-in-law, Carolyn Gaydon; and two brothers-in-law, George Gaydon and Jeff Gaydon; as well as several nieces and nephews.   She was preceded in death by a grandchild, Landyn Gaydon; and her children’s father, David Gaydon.

Her family would like to thank Amedisys Hospice for the love and wonderful care they provided Amy during her battle with cancer.

Funeral services will be conducted 2 o’clock Sunday afternoon, January 31, 2021, from the graveside at Glendale Memorial Cemetery, 2210 Mount Carmel Road, Walterboro.  The Reverend Gerald Mabry and The Reverend Doug Tuten officiating.
