Alyea Hiers

Mr. Alyea Hiers, 84, of Ehrhardt, passed away Friday, January 11, 2019 at his residence.

Born March 24, 1934 in Bamberg County, he was a son of the late Bradley Carroll Hiers and Agnes Peters Hiers.  He was a retired farmer and served his country in the United States Army.  He was a member of St. Johns Baptist Church.  He loved hunting and fishing and in his younger years loved playing football.  He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather who dearly loved his family; and especially loved spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren and attending their ballgames.

Surviving are: his wife of 61 years, Barbara Ann McKenzie Hiers; children, John Alyea Hiers and his wife Cindy of Pineville, Aubrey Hiers Rosier and her husband Kenneth of Barnwell, Marty Hiers of Walterboro, and Yvonne Hiers Dobbins Williams and her husband Carl of Ehrhardt; grandchildren, Crystal Hiers Ackerman (Nick), Tiffany E. Hiers, McKenzie Dobbins (Cody Benton), John Bradley Hiers (Stephanie Taylor), Will G. Rimes, III (Krista), Haley Smith, Jason Adkins (Deanna), Brannon Faulkner (Kevin) and family, and Craig Rosier (Crystal) and family; great grandchildren, Riley Ackerman, Bailey Ackerman, Tinsley Koon, Cameron Koon, Hadley Grace Hiers, Weston Adkins, Dylan Adkins, and Kinslee Benton; and many nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his brothers, Carroll Bradley Hiers, Jacob Albert Hiers, Percy LeRoy Hiers, James Everett Hiers, and Franklin Hiers; and his sisters, Catherine Hiers, Althea Stevenson, Mary Louise Parnell, Florine Viola Fogle, Margaret Rawl, Angelia Breland and Beverly Fisk.

Funeral services will be held 2 pm, Sunday afternoon, January 13, 2019 at St. Johns Baptist Church, 2468 St. Johns Church Road, Ehrhardt.  Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
