Alton Lee Matthews

Alton Lee Matthews, Jr., known by everyone as “Augie”, 77, of Summerton, entered into eternal rest Tuesday, April 23, 2024, at Veteran’s Victory House. He was born April 18, 1947, in Huntsville, Texas, to the late Alton Lee Matthews, Sr., and Peggy L. Derbonne.

Augie was a United States Marine and a very proud Vietnam Veteran. He enjoyed motorcycles, a good meal, and later in life he enjoyed scuba diving in Florida.

Surviving are: his daughter Dawn, and her husband Ken of Lugoff; a step-son, Jesse Sanders of Beaufort; a sister, Robin Raley of Texas, his grandchildren, Jana Pressley, Katharine Morse; step-grandchild, Dillon Sanders; great-grandchildren, Eli Pressley, Tatum Pressley, Drew Pressley; his dear friend Ann Hiers MacKinnon and her husband Roch of Summerton.
