Allison Bryan Scott

Mrs. Allison Bryan Scott, 74, of Round O, South Carolina, passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by her loving family on Thursday, July 30, 2026.

Born on October 2, 1951, in Fort Worth, Texas, Allison was the daughter of the late William Jennings Brian and Louise Armstrong Beach. She grew up in Walterboro, South Carolina, where she built a life centered on family, and caring for others.

Allison retired from Colleton Medical Center in 2020 after an extraordinary 42-year nursing career. She graduated from the former Colleton County Hospital LPN Program in 1978 and later earned her Associate Degree in Nursing from the former Baptist College in Charleston while working full-time and raising two young daughters. Nursing was more than a profession to Allison—it was her calling. She faithfully worked countless holidays, weekends, and overtime hours to provide for her girls.

Although she loved being a nurse, Allison’s greatest role was that of mother and grandmother. She raised her daughters to be strong, independent women, teaching them the value of hard work and that the life you want is earned through determination and perseverance.

Her greatest joy, however, was being “Nana” to her four grandchildren: Zachary, Jared, Noah,and Lana. She treasured every moment spent with them, whether on vacations, day trips, or simply making memories together. Allison was affectionately known as “Nana” to many of their friends as well, and she had a special love for every child she met. She was also blessed to welcome her first great-grandchild, Carter Allen Thomas, born in November 2025. Although her declining health prevented her from babysitting him as she had hoped, her love for him was immeasurable.

She is survived by her devoted husband of more than 20 years, Wayne J. Scott, who lovingly dedicated himself to caring for her throughout the last several years as her health declined. She is also survived by her daughter, Stephanie Simmons Catterton of Walterboro; her grandchildren, Zachary Frier of Summerville, Jared Thomas (Claire), Noah Catterton, and Lana Catterton, all of Walterboro; her great-grandson, Carter Allen Thomas; her sister, Cecilia Bryan Strickland of Hilton Head; three half siblings, numerous nieces and nephews across the country and her best friend, Julie Fishburne.

In addition to her parents, Allison was preceded in death by her beloved daughter, Melanie Renée Simmons, in 2023; and by her sisters, Teresa Bryan Bowman and Jennifer “Jenny” Bryan Mulligan.

In true Allison fashion, she requested no funeral or formal service. She wished to be remembered as she lived—sassy, loving, beautiful, and deeply caring toward those she loved. Condolence cards, if desired, may be mailed to: 12250 Round O Road Round O, SC 29474.

The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the physicians, nurses, and staff of the Emergency Department and Intensive Care Unit at Colleton Medical Center for the compassionate care they provided. They also wish to thank Edisto Hospice for their exceptional efforts in helping Allison return home, where she was able to spend her final hours surrounded by those she loved.

Finally, the family sincerely thanks everyone who has reached out with calls, texts, visits, shared memories, prayers, and meals during this difficult time. Your kindness, love, and support have been deeply appreciated and will never be forgotten.
