Mr. Allen Russell Sparks, 63, of Ann Street, Hampton, entered into eternal rest Saturday, April 17, 2010 at his residence.



Funeral services will be held 4 pm, Tuesday, April 20, 2010 at Hopewell Baptist Church. Interment with Military Honors will follow in Lawtonville Cemetery.



A memorial service will also be held in Fairbanks, Alaska at a later date.



Mr. Sparks was born June 2, 1946 in Tacoma, Washington and was a son of the late Bernard Sparks and Muriel Morrison Sparks. He was a retired Master Carpenter with the Carpenters Union in Fairbanks, Alaska and was a retired Quality Control Manager for Haliburton at Fort Wainwright in Fairbanks, Alaska. He served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam era. He was a member of Lord of Life Lutheran Church in North Pole, Alaska. Mr. Sparks loved all things outdoors, including hunting and flying his plane, but especially loved spending time at his cabin on the Teklaneka River in Alaska.



Surviving are: his wife, Sarah Youmans Sparks; children, Frank Sparks of Lynwood, Washington, Brian Sparks of South Dakota, Becky Sparks of Anchorage, Alaska, Billy Barnett of Wasilla, Alaksa, Gregg Peede of North Pole, Alaska, Amy Borling of North Pole, Alaska, Kim Renfroe of California, Jasah Sumpter of North Pole, Alaska and Shannon Laird of Kent, Washington; honorary sons, Lee Sumpter of North Pole, Alaska and Ty Sumpter of North Pole, Alaska; 23 grandchildren; and 3 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, Jeff Peede.
