Mr. Wendell Allen Bishop, 68, of Islandton, entered into eternal rest Wednesday morning, January 31, 2024, at Colleton Medical Center. He was the husband of the late Kathy Padgett Bishop to whom he was married 47 years.
Born February 13, 1955, in Colleton County, he was a son of the late Wendell Kenneth Bishop and Eleanor Sanders Bishop. Allen was the owner and operator of Bishop’s Body Shop in Walterboro for nearly 40 years. He was a member of Pine Grove Baptist Church in Walterboro and was a member of Unity Lodge No.55, Ancient Free Masons.
Surviving are: his daughter, Ashley Bishop of Islandton; brother, Victor Barry Bishop of Islandton; brother-in-law, James A “Jimmy” Padgett, Jr. and his wife Becky of Barnwell; sister-in-law, Debra P. Schaekel and her husband Bill of Columbia; as well as many nieces, nephews, and honorary grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother, Wayne Kenneth Bishop.
Funeral services will be held 3 o’clock, Sunday afternoon, February 4, 2024, at The Brice Herndon Funeral Chapel, Walterboro. Interment will follow in New Hope Cemetery, Forks Road, Islandton.
