COTTAGEVILLE " Mrs. Alice Bennett Boatwright, 77, of 11648 Cottageville Highway, died Wednesday evening, February 18, 2009, at the Roper Hospital in Charleston.
Funeral services will be conducted 11 oclock Saturday morning, February 21, 2009, from The Brice W. Herndon and Sons Funeral Chapel, Walterboro. Interment will follow in Live Oak Cemetery, Jefferies Blvd., Walterboro.
Mrs. Boatwright was born February 3, 1932, in Colleton County and was a daughter of the late Franklin Capers Bennett and the late Louetta Chassereau Bennett. She was a graduate of Walterboro High School and had attended Columbia College and received her Associate Degrees in English and Business Administration. She was a retired Assistant Manger from the Thunder Bird Inn in Walterboro. She was a member of Saint Judes Episcopal Church and was a member and Past President of the Colleton Historical Society. She had volunteered with the Cancer Society and the United Way and was also a Poll Worker for twelve years. She will be remembered for the art work she had created and her love of flowers and animals.
Surviving are: three daughters, Kim B. Reeves and her husband Danny of Cottageville, Abbie B. Murray and her husband Shawn of Walterboro, and Scarlet L. Boatwright of Cottageville; and two grandchildren, Abbie Leigh Davis of Cottageville and Lexie Murray of Walterboro. The family would like to extend a special thanks to her life long friend for the commitment and caring he gave, Mr. Abbie Lucas of Walterboro.
