WALTERBORO - Mr. Alfred Von Oelschlaeger, 88, a resident of the Veteran's Victory House in Walterboro, South Carolina, who entered into eternal rest Sunday afternoon, December 28, 2025, at the Colleton Medical Center in Walterboro. He was the loving husband of the late Mrs. Marilyn (Oele) Von Oelschlaeger.

Born May 8, 1937, in Berlin, Germany, he was a son of the late Alfred Oelschläger and the late Lydia (Grundmann) Oelschläger. Alfred immigrated from Germany to Ellis Island at the age of 21 in 1956 and became a citizen of the United States of America on September 28, 1957. He was a patriot and loved the United States and faithfully served in the United States Air Force as well as in their reserves. He was an accomplished and talented master wood carver who learned his trade while in Germany. He later earned a degree in Architecture in the United States. He achieved many dreams, one of which was to become a private pilot. He loved flying and inspired 2 of his grandsons to pursue their pilot’s license. He spent a great deal of time living in Helen, Georgia, where he was a member of Helen Presbyterian Church.

Surviving are: two daughters, Lisa lhnken and her husband Todd of Florida and Sally Strzalka and her husband Phil of Illinois; and five grandchildren, Alfred, Frankie, Alyssa, Kayla, and Joshua.

The family wishes to express heartfelt appreciation to the staff of the Veteran's Victory House in Walterboro for the love, care, and devotion provided to Alfred in his years there and for allowing him to be the facility's unofficial Mayor.
