Chief Albert Joseph Bernier, Jr., United States Navy (Ret.) age 57, of Walterboro, died Saturday afternoon, April 11, 2009, at the Colleton Medical Center in Walterboro.
Chief Bernier was born October 13, 1950 in Wolfeboro, New Hampshire, and was a son of the late Albert Joseph Bernier, Sr. and the late Alma Josephine Pelchat Bernier. He was a graduate of East Hampton High School in East Hampton, Massachusetts. He served his country faithfully in the United States Navy having be stationed aboard nuclear Submarines for twenty years and at the time of his retirement had reached the rank of Chief. He was currently employed by Tire King in Walterboro. He was of the Roman Catholic faith and was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Post No. 3433 in Ladson.
Surviving are: his wife: Mrs. Cynthia Dianne Bradshaw Bernier; a brother, Richard Bernier of Phoenix, Arizona; and a sister, Jo Ann Baker of Wolfeboro, New Hampshire. There are thee grandchildren, Cheyenne Marie White, Mary Preston, and Hunter David Prichard; as well as two step-grandchildren, Catherine Hughes, and Christina Hughes that also survive.
