Alan Winn

December 16, 1982 — November 9, 2025

Summerville, South Carolina

Mr. Roger Alan Winn, 42, of Summerville, entered into eternal rest Sunday, November 9, 2025.

Born December 16, 1982, in Varnville, he was a son of Charlie Roger Winn and Lisa Ann Jarrell Winn. Alan served his country faithfully in the South Carolina Army National Guard, retiring with the rank of Sergeant First Class. He served in Afghanistan, Iraq, Kuwait, and Jordan. Currently, Alan was a maintenance supervisor for Republic Waste.

Alan possessed a true servant heart and shared that with everyone he knew. He was a father figure to many that he treated as his own. He worked with several area youth groups and enjoyed spending time with each of them. He was always willing to help anyone that he could. Alan loved cars and working on them, riding motorcycles, fishing, taking trips to the mountains, and will always be known as the best coffee maker in the world. He was an avid Georgia Bulldog fan. He was a member of Hampton First Christian Church. More than anything, Alan will be remembered for the love he had for his Lord, his family, and his country. He worked tirelessly for fellow veterans, helping anywhere he could and was a faithful member of the Charleston War Vets MC, a group of veterans formed to help assist veterans of all Armed Forces branches.

Surviving are: his wife of 18 years, Bethany Stancil Winn; parents, Roger and Lisa Winn; children, Libby DuBois, Lindsay Terry and her husband Michael, James DuBois, Quinten Owens, and Gracie Winn; grandchildren, Camryn and Michael; grandmother, Maude Duff; grandfather, Bobby Jarrell; brother, Jonathan Winn and his wife Rachel; sister, Nicole Barnes and her husband Dylan; mother-in-law, Toni Stancil; special friends, Michael and Misty Poston, along with their family; as well as “The Moonies”; as well as a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. He dearly loved his veteran brothers and sisters and always considered them as family.

Alan was preceded in death by his grandparents, Bernard and Mae Winn; his uncle that he loved like a brother, John Jarrell; and his father-in-law, Shelton Stancil.

Though Alan left us too soon, he shared the gift of life through organ donation. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to the organization that Alan cared so much for, as well as the organization that he helped save lives through: War Vets MC Charleston: www.warvetscharleston.com; or to: Sharing Hope South Carolina, 2215 Henry Tecklenburg Drive, Charleston, South Carolina 29414, or at: www.sharinghopesc.org.
