Mrs. Agnes Colson Ferguson, 83, of 133 Meeting House Lane, Cottageville, entered into eternal rest Tuesday evening, January 25, 2011, at her residence under the care of Amedisys Hospice. She was the widow of Mr. James Henry Ferguson, Sr.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 oclock Friday morning, January 28, 2011, from Edisto Pentecostal Holiness Church, 24576 Augusta Highway, Cottageville, with The Reverend James Beverly and The Reverend Dr. John Glen Creel officiating. Interment will follow in Meeting House Cemetery, Meeting House Lane, Cottageville.
Mrs. Ferguson was born September 8, 1927, in Colleton County, and was a daughter of the late Ludlow Colson and the late Olivia Crosby Colson. She was a retired inspector from Smoaks Dress Plant and was a member of Edisto Pentecostal Holiness Church. She will be fondly remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend, always centering her life around her loving family. She possessed a great passion for working in her yard and tending to her flowers, and was a great fan of the singing group Holy City.
Surviving are: two sons, Steve M. Ferguson and his wife Pearl and James Henry Ferguson, Jr. and his wife Mary all of Cottageville; two daughters, Ruby E. Conwell and her husband Ralph and Margie Crosby all of Cottageville, a sister, Gladys McDaniel and her husband Thyas of Orangeburg; and a son-in-law, Ronnie Jackson of Hardeeville. There are six grandchildren, Jimmy Smoak, Johnny Smoak, Karen Smith, Kelly Lesley, Vicki McElwee, and Tina Ferguson; three step-grandchildren, Thomas Wade Crosby, II, Jeffery Benjamin Crosby, and April Watson; as well as six great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Margaret Jackson; a grandson, Michael Smoak; and two brothers, Jefferies Colson and Mendel Colson.
The family also wishes to express their extreme gratitude to Latrice Cunninham and Kristen King from Amedisys Hospice for their assistance to the family is overwhelmingly appreciated.
