Adeline Carlson

Adeline Langdale Bowman Carlson, 87, originally of Walterboro, entered into eternal rest peacefully on Thursday, July 13, 2023, under the care of Hospice.

Born August 20, 1935, in Walterboro, South Carolina, she was the middle daughter of the late Maye Drawdy Langdale and Pinkney “Pink” Langdale.  She was previously married to the late Buster Cletis Bowman of Walterboro and the late Bud Carlson of New Hampshire.

Adeline attended Walterboro schools. She retired from the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston and worked previously for J.P. Stevens Corporation in Walterboro. In her younger years she enjoyed making ceramic pottery, attending Millie Lewis classes and Arthur Murray Dance School. She was a dedicated sales representative for BeautiControl Cosmetics for many years. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Lexington and a previous member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church of Walterboro.

Surviving are: her son, Michael Cletis Bowman and his wife Pam of Columbia; daughter, Teri Ann Bowman Hiott and her husband Robert of Cayce; two grandchildren, Christopher Stephen Flanigan and wife Brianna of Long Island, NY and Emily Jean Bowman of Columbia; two great grandchildren, James Russell Flanigan and Carter Joseph Flanigan of Long Island, NY; sisters, Betty Langdale of Shrewsbury, Pennsylvania and Miriam Langdale Frank of Walterboro and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held 11 O’clock, Monday morning, July 17, 2023, at The Brice Herndon Funeral Chapel, Walterboro. Interment will follow in Pleasant Grove Baptist Church Cemetery, Jefferies Highway, Walterboro. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.

In Lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.

The family would like to thank the medical staff at Lexington Medical Center and the Lexington Community Hospice House for their compassionate care.
