I am from Newport News, VA. I just happened to call Enterprise Bank today and found out Mr. Varn had passed away. I am so sorry to hear that!!! He and my Dad were childhood friends many years ago. My Dad was James O Crosby, Jr and was born and grew up in Walterboro, SC.He passed away in Newport News, VA on July 19, 2002. His parents bought stock with the Bank of Smoaks, which later became Enterprise Bank. I have had the opportunity to talk to him after my Dad passed away on several occasions and he was really a great person and very enjoyable to talk to. I wish I would have made it down to SC to meet him in person but between working and taking care of my Mother for 14+ years until she passed away in Oct. 2016, I didn't travel anywhere because of her health. Heaven will be an even better place now. My sincerest condolences to all the family members. God Bless.

Mr. Varn departed this earth but he will never truly leave he lives on in lives and memories of the people he touched. In the lives of many he was a steady hand bridging the chasm until times got better never accepting praise or recognition. He and I climbed many mountains and walked through a valley or two but in the ups and downs he never faltered he stood firm through the good and not so good. He will forever be remembered for the integrity, generosity and kindness he treated his fellow man.
