Wendell M. Smoak

Mr. Wendell Miley Smoak, 88, passed away Monday, November 12, 2018 at Pruitt Health in Estill.  He was the husband of the late Vernelle Craven Smoak to whom he was married for 62 years.

Born September 30, 1930 in Colleton County and was a son of the late Curtis Smoak and Verssie Smoak.  He was a retired supervisor from the Charleston Air Force Base and served his country in the South Carolina Army National Guard.  He was a member of Bethel Baptist Church, where he was a Deacon and Trustee.  He was an avid farmer who loved taking care of his cows.

Surviving are: his daughter, Crystal Smoak Spooner and her husband Adam of Cottageville; grandchildren, Joshua Spooner and Jace Spooner; and a sister-in-law, Doris Smoak.

Funeral services will be held at 11 o’clock, Friday, November 16, 2018 at Bethel Baptist Church, 3481 Sidneys Road, Walterboro.  Interment will follow in Bedon Baptist Church Cemetery, 2410 Cottageville Highway, Walterboro.
